RISK AND BENEFITS OF PROGRAM PARTICIPATION

These courses are offered by Education For Scholars, Inc. (EFS) which is a faith-based organization founded on biblical principles of faith in Christ and godly living. Education For Scholars, Inc. (E.F.S.) is a nonprofit organization that focuses on supporting families and establishing a future for youth. We provide mentoring and educational services, such as college and career prep, before/after school programs, and summer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) camps. With parental/guardian permission, students may participate in Christian educational content. If you wish for your student to not be involved in prayer, Bible study, or any other Christian activities, a statement in writing must be submitted prior to your student’s enrollment.

Education For Scholars’ staff will strive to provide the Highest Quality Educational Services that promote and enhance each child’s development; while assuring our parent’s or guardian’s peace of mind in the care and service we render. EFS provides a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate program which fosters active learning, support for the whole child, and a child-friendly environment.  However, as with any life experience, engaging in certain educational activities and especially online education come with certain levels of risk for participants.

When enrolling your student(s) in our online courses or the Youth Trivia Series, you agree to support your student’s participation by being present or home during any live classes online (Zoom meetings, Google meetings, or video presentations, etc.), reviewing assignments posted online with your student (Edmodo, Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.), and helping your student with assignments or assisting them in contacting the instructor to get further instructions.

It is important that a positive and appropriate learning environment be established for each child. EFS reserves the right to place children in classes by age, gender, and developmental level. Also, we will use the peer-tutor strategy and place older children to teach or mentor younger children. EFS does not discriminate in administration of its educational and admission policies. However, EFS reserves the right to remove participants if they fail to abide by the policies and procedures of the program or pose a threat to the safety of our staff or other participants.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality plays a vital role in promoting respect for every individual and fostering a strong community. EFS takes confidentiality very seriously and makes every effort to protect each family’s privacy. Communications among staff and parents about children should be kept confidential. EFS recommends that conversations about a child, behavior, or incident should be conducted in private, away from the child and other members of the EFS community.
